Sweet Cupcakes

The Altenew Way Too Sweet stamp set is one of my favourites. I wanted to make a card featuring the cake images from this set, as I haven't used them as much as the ice cream and lollipop images.

I used a border stamp and Altenew inks to create stripes on a piece of watercolour card. To give them a loose watercolour look, I spritzed the stamp with water before stamping onto the card.

I used a heat tool to dry the stripes, then stamped the cakes and a heart image over the background. I chose Altenew Lava Rock ink as thought black would look too harsh.

I created the sentiment from two different stamps, selectively stamping the words I wanted to create my own greeting. I heat embossed it in gold on vellum, and die cut it into a tag. I added it to the card with liquid glue, and added a few clear sequins around it.

Thanks for joining me today,
Gemma

Llama Love

Hi there, happy Monday to you :)

Have you noticed how Llamas are the trend at the moment in stamping? ....well I didn't think
I'd need to jump on that band-wagon but the MFT set Llama Love is just such fun.

What colour is a Llama??.... I just went for a dirty cream colour but I think they come in most colourways!!
He was a challenge to colour and I ended up giving his coat a woolly texture too.

This card was for my, very well travelled, Brother in Law so I went with a more masculine
style and used the Stepped Up Chevron border in primary colours to
break between the kraft and cream card.
I have sponged Natural dye ink through the Wonky Chevron stencil
to add some pattern to the Kraft card, an alternative would be to use the matching
stamp design which I've linked to below.

I went back to my favourite design technique of stamping un-coloured images
behind my focal point, and then added a pop of colour with a green cactus.
Now to the sentiment... well that just goes so well with his
expression and really makes me giggle :)

Thanks for stopping by and hope your day goes by without any Prob-llama's!! 😉

Finding my arty side

I've been watching lots of painting shows on TV recently and feeling very jealous of the painters skills.  Whilst I love to colour and paint, I have never felt confident drawing or painting so having stamps to use is my way in and provides the confidence I lack when faced with a blank canvas!  One of the things that really stuck with me from the portrait artist of the year show was a portrait they showed with a gilt background and whilst I will never be able to paint a portrait I thought I could try the same technique with a big bold stamp.  So here is where my inspiration took me.

I stamped the large floral image from the new You Are Here stamp from Concord & 9th and stamped it directly onto the centre of a canvas (put something underneath the centre to get a solid stamped image) and then I painted the background with teal acrylic paint and allowed to dry.

The flowers were then painted again in acrylic using the wet into wet technique to get the detail in the petals and leaves.  Painting one petal at a time allows you to go right onto the lines giving a similar finish to the no line colouring technique when you stamp in pale inks.

Once dry I use flitter glu and carefully painted around the image leaving a teal border, allowing to dry before adding a mixture of gilding flakes, fading out towards the edge and just adding small patches around the edge for a shabby aged look (I need to work on my shabby-chic skills - I'm a bit too neat!)

I really enjoyed doing something a little different with my stamps for a change and having a piece of art to hang rather than a disposable card makes a pleasant change so I do hope you let out your arty sides too!

Another Year Wiser

Hey stampers, Anni here!
I have a fun interactive card for you today featuring My Favorite Things I'm Owl Yours set.

I kept the card pretty simple on the outside.

I stamped one of the owls and coloured it with grey alcohol markers. I fussy cut the owl (no fear, you don't have to, there are coordinating dies available) and added some three-dimensional gloss medium to the eyes to make them shiny.
For the background I first masked off a stripe on the bottom of my card base and ink blended some turquoise ink for the sky. Then I changed the masked to the top and added some grey ink to create a ground.

And then when you open the card a bunch of rainbow coloured owls pop up to wish the recipient a Happy Birthday!
To create the pop up effect I used Lawn Fawn's Every Day Pop Ups dies. They are currently out of stock in the shop but there are similar ones by My Favorite Things you can find here and here and by Mama Elephant. Those dies are easy to use and making these kind of cards simple.

(I'm sorry I had problems taking a good photo of the inside due to bad lightning that day)

For the inside of the card I stamped all the owls in the set and coloured them in rainbow order, fussy cut them and added some details with a white gel pen.

(I'm sorry I had a problem taking a good photo of the inside due to bad lightning that day)

The card took some time because I had to colour all these owls - no problem for me because I think colouring is the best part in making a card. But after I had finished the colouring the rest was easy and took no time at all.

Thanks for stopping by and have a sunny and craft weekend.

Little cats playing Lil Painters.

Hi everybody,

Jill here, and I've got some 'Little Cats' playing at being 'Lil Painters' for you today...

...by mixing up two gorgeous sets from Mama Elephant.

This scene popped in my head as soon as I got my hands on these delightful sets for some reason, with the little cat from 'Little Cat Agendas' painting his little pal playing around, using the easel from 'Lil painters'.
I started by stamping out all the elements I wanted to use from both sets, colouring using my Zig Clean Colour Pens, and fussy cutting.  I also used the sun & clouds from Mama Elephant's 'Sunday Stroll' and did the same with those.  For the actual painting the little kitty is doing, I just did a silly little doodle onto the easel and lightly coloured.

I did a little ink blending to create my background, sprinkling and soaking up some water droplets across it to add a little interest.
My sentiment is from another Mama Elephant set, 'Ella & Friends' and is stamped in black ink then clear heat embossed.
I then adhered all my pieces in place to create my scene.

I really like how this card came out as it makes me smile.  I love using my sets together to create alternate stories and outcomes.

I really hope you like it.
As always, everything I used is linked below.

See you next week.

Rainbow Haired Unicorn

Hi there everyone and happy Thursday!

Have you checked out the new Waffle Flower release in the store? It's soooo super cute! I have been playing around with one of the new stamps and die sets....

Ack, how cute is that Stitched Unicorn? I stamped the first image from the stamp 'Stitched Unicorn' the frame with the unicorn hair onto some black card and then white heat embossed. I then coloured over the white embossing with alcohol marker in rainbow colours. I then stamped and white heat embossed the unicorns face.

The sentiment is from the same set and the layers were cut using the 'Stitched Layers Die'.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I'll see you again next week!

Hugs, Lydia xxx

Owl birthday card with My Favorite Things

Hi everyone, it's Esther here with an owl birthday card using My Favorite Things I'm Owl Yours stamp set.

I think these owls are the cutest I've seen, and this little chap is no exception.

I stamped a background using the medium and small hearts from I'm Owl Yours and coloured them in with alcohol pens. I die cut two irregular ovals using My Favorite Things Stitched Triple Peek-a-Boo Windows Dienamic, but keeping the centres for use and discarding the stitched negative outlines. I layered these up under my owl and adhered them to the panel. The sentiment was stamped on vellum, and this plus some die cut hearts were adhered over the owl grouping before popping the whole lot onto a Kraft card base.

The light for taking photos has been a nightmare the last few days with grey stormy weather and high winds... brrrrr! Hopefully you can see the hint of Wink of Stella Orange on the three die cut hearts. The orange is a fab colour for using over reds and yellows as it warms them up far better than the clear pen, but without being too obtrusive.

That's it for this week! Thanks for stopping by.

Little Cat Birthday Parade

I'm really enjoying colouring these adorable cats from the Mama Elephant Little Cat Agenda stamp set.

For this card, I wanted a birthday parade of Maine Coon cats (both the recipient of this card and I have Maine Coons).

I began by die-cutting a scalloped border from an A2 note card size piece of white card. I stamped five cats, making sure to choose ones all going in the same direction to form a parade. I coloured them with alcohol markers, and added ear tufts with a black fine liner pen to turn them into Maine Coons.

I choose a piece of patterned paper to go on the bottom half of the A2 note card base, then attached the stamped piece with foam tape.

Using a die from the Mama Elephant Polaroid die set, I die cut some speech bubbles - twice from white card and once from black card. I stamped a sentiment on one, then layered them together, with the black speech bubble offset slightly to create a shadow. I adhered this directly to the card, above the cats.

Finally, I added some Wink of Stella clear glitter to the cat accessories.

I hope you like my birthday cat parade. Have a lovely day,
Gemma
